FROM ROME TO NEW YORK:
THE VIENNESE COLLECTIVE GELITIN REDEFINES THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN ARTWORK AND VIEWER
From Rome to New York. From the embrace of the artistic and cultural reality of FOROF, founded by Giovanna Caruso Fendi—where archaeology coexists with contemporary art—to the exhibition space on Orchard Street of Galerie Perrotin. The Viennese collective Gelatin/Gelitin stopped in the spring of 2026 in the Big Apple with a new project (on view to the public until April 11), after having animated Season IV of FOROF (October 2024–July 2025), which saw the artists and performers as protagonists with the exhibition Nimbus Limbus Omnibus.
As reported by Exibart in the article by Chiara Cianni on the new exhibition project by Gelitin in Manhattan: “All for All brings together two distinct yet complementary bodies of work: the All for All ceramic series and a series of drawings related to the public work WirWasser. Both cycles reflect on the dynamics that regulate coexistence among individuals. (…)”, reflecting the poetics underlying the work of Gelitin/Gelatin, namely “the intention to redefine the traditional relationship between artwork and viewer: the public is no longer a mere observer but becomes an integral part of the creative process, a co-author and active collaborator,” as further stated in the article published on March 29, 2026.
An artistic attitude already fully expressed—together with the theme of freedom—during the performances at the core of the FOROF Episodes, such as the collective action Tutto Stucco, capable of evoking “certain cinematic stagings like those of Pasolini, reminiscent of Mannerist pictorial tradition,” as Exibart wrote in July 2025, generating strong engagement among the audience gathered in the spaces of Foro Traiano 1.
