Coniglio 20 in 25 — Gelitin/Gelatin

EPISODE 1 — SEASON IV

On Friday, January 24, 2025, FOROF opened Season IV with Coniglio 20 in 25, a festive, celebratory performance by the Viennese collective Gelitin/Gelatin, within the exhibition Nimbus Limbus Omnibus curated by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi. The audience was invited to actively engage in a playful, participatory opening centered on the season’s key theme: freedoms.

Twenty years of an icon: Hase / Rabbit / Coniglio (2005)

The episode celebrates the 20th anniversary of the legendary sculpture Hase / Rabbit / Coniglio (2005), created in the Maritime Alps (Piedmont) in collaboration with Pinksummer Contemporary Art: a 50 meter rabbit “landed” in the landscape, welcoming and walkable, an icon that merges with the mountain without overpowering it. Over time, weathering has transformed the work—an evolution embraced by Gelitin/Gelatin as part of the project’s very nature.

A living stage

In performance, forty minutes of dance, spoken word, drawing and live painting turned FOROF into a vibrant stage: rabbit costumes and choreographed gestures sparked a temporary community between artists and audience. A light, ironic ritual activating the collective body of the space.

A catalogue as a site of ideas

The episode also featured the presentation of the Nimbus Limbus Omnibus catalogue, edited by Bartolomeo Pietromarchi and Alessandro Sarteanesi, published by Magonza (bilingual edition). Beyond documenting the project, the volume deepens the dialogue between contemporary art and archaeology at the core of FOROF’s mission.

Archaeology in progress

As throughout the cycle, each performance leaves physical and symbolic traces within the exhibition: an archaeology in progress that reveals new dimensions episode after episode. Coniglio 20 in 25 opened Season IV as an experiential, participatory device in dialogue with the hypogeum of the Basilica Ulpia.

Convivial close

As with every episode, the evening concluded with a taste-sensory experience curated by RIMESSA Roscioli, extending the performance into a convivial shared moment.
