Within the spaces of Foro Traiano 1, which preserve the only remaining marble fragments of the Basilica Ulpia, the site-specific installation INFRASUPRA by Alicja Kwade—protagonist of FOROF’s Season V through July 29, 2026—will be activated on March 12 by a performative intervention by the artistic duo MASBEDO. Nicolò Massazza and Iacopo Bedogni will present, within the artistic and cultural institution founded by Giovanna Caruso Fendi, an interactive work entitled 2026AC, the core of Episode III: five performers will inhabit the space, transforming it into a sensitive landscape where memory and the present intertwine without hierarchy.
“The bodies wear sound and image, configuring themselves as living archives: surfaces of inscription crossed by the noise of the contemporary and the persistence of history. The performance places material ruin and media flow, monumentality and contemporaneity into tension, constructing a field of friction between what remains and what erupts,” explain MASBEDO.
The device, previously activated in the town of Granollers (Manifesta 15 Barcelona Metropolitana) in relation to the memory of the bombings and local history, is now reconfigured in dialogue with the Forum of Trajan, taking the site not as a backdrop but as an active material of engagement, where time stratifies and becomes perceptible.
Following the concert-performance MIRAGE by the German band PAAR, and the performance DIHET – ARRIVA IL NUOVO GIORNO by poet and vocalist Jonida Prifti, FOROF now welcomes two artists accustomed to working across diverse artistic languages—from video to installation, from cinema to performance, theatre, and sound design—with the ultimate aim of probing deeply into human relationships and the complex subjectivity of the contemporary individual.
“The ability of MASBEDO to integrate work with audio and video technologies and site-specific interventions is unique. We see this in this new Episode of FOROF, in which performers traverse the space, reinterpreting in a contemporary key the dualism between power and control evident in the exhibition INFRASUPRA. The dualism is activated through the dialogue the performers establish between their technological attire and their bodies. And we who observe them are there, part of a great new experience that leads us into the depths of our human and archaeological memory,” emphasizes Valentino Catricalà, curator of FOROF’s Season V.
The performance 2026AC by MASBEDO is another compelling chapter in the artistic and cultural program of Foro Traiano 1, continuing under the banner of Artflix, the neologism coined by Giovanna Caruso Fendi to encapsulate the methodological approach linking Seasons and Episodes.
On the occasion of Episode III, FOROF once again draws on the gourmet expertise and creativity of Rimessa Roscioli for a taste-sensory journey that transforms the concept of the performance into a thoughtful sequence of flavors—enhancing the sociability and vitality of FOROF.
