FOROF, THE NEW SEASON IS HERE.
FEATURING SARAH BRAHIM
GIOVANNA CARUSO FENDI PRESENTS THE SIXTH SEASON OF FOROF
“LET US LOVE THIS DISTANCE”
On 26 October 2026, FOROF unveils its sixth season, featuring the site-specific installation “LET US LOVE THIS DISTANCE” by Saudi Arabian artist Sarah Brahim. She has been invited by artrepreneur Giovanna Caruso Fendi to contribute to ARTFLIX, the artistic and cultural project promoted and produced by the organisation based at Foro Traiano 1, with the aim of keeping the ongoing dialogue between archaeology and contemporary art alive.
The visual artist and performer, born in Riyadh in 1992, will be accompanied throughout her journey with FOROF until 27 July 2027 by researcher and art historian Alessandro Gallicchio. She has created a path unfolding between the ground floor and the underground area corresponding to the archaeological site of the Basilica Ulpia, where the ritual of manumissio — the liberation of enslaved people — once took place. The installation “LET US LOVE THIS DISTANCE” includes a well set into the Basilica’s original flooring, opening a window onto the history of the artist’s family, alongside videos, photographs and installations that invite the public to participate.
“FOROF’s strength lies precisely in creating a connection that brings another universe to life: that of the Trajanic era, bringing it back to life and making it vibrant, relevant and a catalyst for change through the reactivation of manumissio, the ceremony through which enslaved people became Roman citizens, a ritual of transformation. This passage of mediation and connection between universes is also found in Sarah Brahim’s work, whom I was delighted to welcome as the protagonist of the sixth season,” says Giovanna Caruso Fendi.
We look forward to welcoming you: book your ticket for the opening here.
